Public Libraries in Nassau are Open for Business!
Post-Sandy Update
Nearly all public libraries in Nassau are up and
running. Libraries opened as soon as possible after
Super Storm Sandy, providing warm places to charge cell
phones and access the internet, programs and activities to
keep children occupied and give adults a break from
thinking about their losses, and public spaces for
community members to get together.
NLS put together a list of sources of storm recovery
assistance. Library staff at your local library can
assist you in finding other storm-related
resources as well as provide other information and
help you find library materials of interest. We have also included a list of storm recovery resources for businesses prepared by The Long Island Business News.
Three of our member public libraries sustained serious
damage during Super Storm Sandy. These libraries – East
Rockaway, Island Park, and Long Beach
– will likely remain closed for an extended time.
